inZOI is expanding its long-term online ambitions as KRAFTON continues developing multiplayer features for its life simulation game.
The development team recently showcased CanvasTown, a concept focused on allowing players to live together in a shared virtual town. However, the developers clarified that the feature remains under development and that small-scale tests will be used to determine how valuable the multiplayer experience is for players.
Players Could Live Together in One Town
According to the development team’s latest explanation, inZOI is being developed with the goal of becoming an online life simulation where players can gather and live together.
Among the multiplayer features being developed is support for more than 20 players living simultaneously in a single town.
The planned system also includes multiplayer housing, allowing multiple players to participate in activities involving homes and shared spaces.
Multiplayer Could Change the Life Simulation Experience
The multiplayer concept goes beyond simply allowing players to meet in the same environment.
The development team is exploring features such as relationships, parties and careers. Players could potentially interact with one another while building their virtual lives and participating in different social activities.
There are also plans for multiple players to build houses at the same time, creating a more collaborative approach to the game’s city and residential systems.
CanvasTown Is Still an Experiment
KRAFTON has emphasized that CanvasTown should not be treated as a finished multiplayer mode.
The developers explained that the recent event demonstration created some misunderstandings about the project’s current capabilities. The team is using smaller tests to determine whether living together in a town with other players genuinely adds value to the inZOI experience.
That means some of the features discussed by the development team could still change as testing continues.
Single-Player Development Remains Important
While multiplayer development is receiving attention, KRAFTON says the majority of the inZOI development team remains focused on the single-player experience.
A smaller dedicated team is working on adapting existing systems for multiplayer. The developers also said they plan to continue improving the core game alongside multiplayer experiments.
This approach allows KRAFTON to test online features without abandoning the game’s original life-simulation foundation.
Recent Updates Continue to Improve inZOI
The multiplayer development comes alongside regular updates to the main game.
A September 16 hotfix addressed several gameplay issues, including problems involving companion Zois during City Trips, the cleaning system, lighting and rain-related behavior.
The September 3 v0.10.0 update also introduced vacation features, resort activities and a new night market social event in Cahaya.
inZOI’s Online Future Is Still Taking Shape
KRAFTON’s multiplayer plans show that inZOI could eventually move beyond a traditional single-player life simulation.
However, the current CanvasTown concept remains experimental. The development team is continuing to test multiplayer systems and gather feedback before determining how these features should evolve.
For now, the focus is on gradually building an online town experience where players can potentially live, socialize, work and interact together.
